Biography

Georg Langs is Associate Professor at the Medical University of Vienna, and director of the Computational Imaging Research Lab at the Department of Biomedical Imaging and Image-guided Therapy. He has a Research Affiliate appointment at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (CSAIL) at MIT, where he spends about 2 months per year. Before that he was a Research Scientist at CSAIL, MIT, a post-doctoral Assocaite at the Applied Mathematics Laboratory of the Ecole Centrale de Paris. He has a PhD in Computer Science (Graz University of Technology), and a Master in Mathematics (Vienna University of Technology). His research focus is on machine learning and computer vision in the context of medical imaging, disease and treatment response prediction. His projects range from large-scale mining of biomedical imaging data, computer aided diagnosis, the linking of semantic- and visual information, and computational neuroscience. He has published 120 peer reviewed papers, serves as reviewers for various journals, conferences and funding agencies.
